I was pleased to see a button allowing me to export a CSV file of a report in Quicken for Mac 2016, but it does not seem to export the memo/notes column even though they print in the report. Is there any way to make it export the memo/notes?

I think you have identified a bug in this function. The ability to export reports to CSV was newly added in the latest release. Looks like the developers missed the memo/notes column. I will suggest to go to the site below and make the request to have it corrected (I just did):

In the mean time, you may be able to work around this by exporting a filtered register. If you go to an account register (or register group), filter the results and/or apply a search, you can export the resulting transactions to CSV using the File > Export menu. The memo/notes field is included in this export.Quicken Mac Subscription; Quicken Mac user since the early 90s - edited December 2016
[mention://2196748 @richardpatterson] - UPDATE: Per the Quicken team, this has been reported to the developers for possible inclusion in a future release.

Thanks for the update. I sure hope they categorized this as a bug to fix in the relatively near future and not a 'feature request' which could get buried with many dozens of other enhancement requests.

Since the native print functions allow so little flexibility, it is critical they get this fixed. Although it adds a step, at least in Excel we can perform functions that Quicken itself cannot. It is an important backup until the basic software becomes more useful.

Yes, I agree. Exporting the memo/notes field with reports needs to be a HIGH PRIORITY bug fix. I frequently export reports for tax purposes, and the notes field is needed. I have also reported it to Quicken.

When I was on an older version(2014?) of the Windows product of Quicken it worked. I now have the Mac version of Quicken 2016, v3.5.5 and am surprised to see this not work. I will report using the link above as well.

Not only would I too like this feature to select which columns (fields) to include in a report, but I ALSO want all of the chosen fields to be exported if I choose to export the report to a CSV file. Right now that does not happen if you choose to show the Memo/Notes field in a report. That field does not get exported with the current version of Quicken for Mac 2017 (a bug IMO).

I have not yet seen a correction. I highly recommend that you report this under the Help menu of Quicken for Mac with 'Report a Problem...' rather than going through the process of requesting it as a feature. This is clearly a bug since any of the developers would/should be surprised to learn that even when the memo column is displayed in the report it does not get exported when one tries to export thatI'm having the same problem and unable to export the Memo field. Has this still not been resolved? - edited May 2017I just installed version 4.5.4 and unfortunately they STILL have not fixed this bug. Very disappointed. This should not be a hard fix. I would even be happy if they over-solved the problem by having EVERY field (seen/unseen) exported to a CSV. One can easily delete unnecessary columns in a spreadsheet app.

I assume so, but in all honesty when I look at the drop down of reports I don't notice anything 'new'. It all looks the same to me. But ever since Quicken 2007 I have not used any of the reports other than Category Summary and saved versions of that. I did look at the Tax Schedule report and it's Export CSV function similarly does not export the shown Memo/Notes column.I just installed version 4.5.4 and unfortunately they STILL have not fixed this bug. At first they kept trying to tell me it was a 'feature' that had not been added. But after I kept insisting it was a 'bug', they got the developers involved who duplicated the problem and acknowledged that it was indeed a bug. They said that we can expect a fix to be included in a future release of the software, although they did not give me a date.
- edited August 2017Thanks for your persistence. In the old days (pre-QM 2007) I periodically got through to Mac developers and it was always satisfying. It is a little disappointing that the 'Report a Problem' feature under the Help menu may not be on anyone's radar... since they seemed unaware of this bug when you talked to them.

For what it's worth, this issue has certainly been reported here on QLC many times, as well as on the beta testing bug site. It had been acknowledged by a Quicken manager a year ago in a private forum the 'SuperUsers' have, and was entered into the product development list at that time (where it still remains). So this either got lost in the cracks somewhere, or someone on the development team considered this a request for a new feature rather than the bug it obviously is. Hopefully your conversation today broke that logjam, but we'll have to wait and see; I was certain this small bug would have been easily fixed a long time ago. Thanks for your persistence. Sounds great. Thanks for your persistence! (It's depressing that the various other channels of getting the developers to address this bug, over a full year, all failed to bring about action.)I received an email from Quicken support this last night stating that the fix would be included in the next release update. Cross your fingers!QMac 2007 & QMac Subscription • Quicken user since 1993 - edited January 2018This bug was noted at least *two years* ago on this forum, and still is not fixed in Quicken Mac 2017, Version 4.6.7 (Build 46.19238.100)! I need data from the Category and Notes columns (my criteria for the exported transactions is a tag). Additionally, using the workaround of using a filtered register or register group is especially kludgy, because many of my tagged costs are splits, and the report exports the entire transaction (i.e., all splits, even those that don't have my tag), which means I have to do a sort to segregate and eliminate split amounts that don't have my tag.
Jim Mahon: did the email from Quicken support 5 months ago referring to 'next release update' mean an update within, for example, Quicken Mac 2017, or would that refer to Quicken Mac 2018? If the latter, that is criminal. To make people pay for a new version for functionality that should have been in the product years ago. thanks - edited January 2018
Don't kill the messenger, but QM18's Transaction Report now allows the ability to customize the columns included in the report, and those columns do get exported to CSV (including memo). This bug was noted at least *two years* ago on this forum, and still is not fixed in Quicken Mac 2017, Version 4.6.7 (Build 46.19238.100)! When and if this will make it backward into QM17, I have no idea.Quicken Mac Subscription; Quicken Mac user since the early 90s - edited January 2018
BobM, Quicken support didn't specify to me whether the fix would be in an update to QM17 or included in the release of QM18. They just said 'next release update.' I doubt they will go back and fix QM17 now that QM18 is out, although they should since QM17 owners paid for the release and it was a known/stated bug. This bug was noted at least *two years* ago on this forum, and still is not fixed in Quicken Mac 2017, Version 4.6.7 (Build 46.19238.100)! I just installed QM18 a few days ago and have not had a chance to try a report yet. Hopefully, as RickO has stated, the memo field is now exporting as it should. - edited January 2018My problem is related to the inclusion of Memos and Notes in a Report. I don't even need to put it into a CSV. Apparently, people on this page have that column in their Reports but it doesn't transfer to CSV. I would be happy to just get Memos and Notes into a REPORT! I know there's a box to click during customizing but where is that box hiding?

In QM2017, the Category Summary report (when expanded) does include the Memo field (and exports it to CSV). That is the only report that does.
