Posted 16 September 2017, 8:36 am ESTWe have some projects in vb6 wich use true dbgrid 7 (a lot). Since windows 8.1 we started having crash problems with this version of the grid. After searching your forum we decided to upgrade true dbgrid to version 8 since we bought it some years ago just never got to upgrade the projects.
The crash problems were solved but we are having problems with the registration of true dbgrid 8. If we install our programs through a new full installation, no problem. But if you build an update file (we use innoDB) and try to register the ocx we can't. It gives an error message on registering the ocx. We have to run the registration utility that comes with your components in order for it to register correctly.
How can you register the true dbgrid ocx correctly? Is there a file missing?
We already have true dbgrid 7 registered in client computers since it was installed with that version. We only want to upgrade without fully installing our applications again.- Post Options:
Replied 16 September 2017, 8:36 am ESTIt seems our license does not include that version of true dbgrid.
The last license we have is from Q4 2002. But we have true dbgrid 8 included in the last CD we received.
What can i do? Do we have to buy an upgrade? we no longer use this component except on vb6 old apps.- Post Options:
Replied 16 September 2017, 8:36 am ESTHi,
Thank you for confirming this.
Yes, this is a pretty old version and hence, is not compatible with modern environments like Windows 8.1. I would rather suggest to upgrade to the latest version of ActiveX Edition which includes a lot more bug fixes in addition with the support for all the latest environments like Windows 10.
You may also download the latest builds of your subscription from the link below:
http://prerelease.componentone.com/activex/c1truedbgrid/2003-q1/TrueDBGrid8_8.0.20031.303.zip
and, try registering the ocx files same as I described in my last response.

Please download the ocx files of latest TrueDBGrid 8.0 from the link below:
http://prerelease.componentone.com/activex/c1truedbgrid/2013-t3/TrueDBGrid8_8.0.20133.373.zip
Copy all the files manually in system32 or syswow64 folder (depending on system architecture) on your machine. Now, run command prompt as an administrator and try to register all the copied files one by one using regsvr32 utility. You can refer the following msdn link for more information on how to register ocx files:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/146219
Make sure that all the instances of Visual Studio are closed when you start the registration process.
In case you still face any issues, please share a video or screenshot demonstrating the error at your end.
Thanks,

Replied 16 September 2017, 8:36 am ESTOur license does not include that version. only 2002 version.
What was the last 2002 version? did it had the crash problem solved?- Post Options:
Replied 16 September 2017, 8:36 am ESTHi,
The last version of TrueDBGrid 8.0 released in 2002 was Q4. Since this is a old version, we don't have its independent installer. However, you can download the complete installer of Studio for ActiveX 2002-Q4 from the link below:
http://download.componentone.com/pub/ActiveX/studio/Updates/C1StudioActiveX_Q402.msi
You should be able to activate your TrueDBGrid 8.0 key using this installer.
As Windows 8.1 is one of the latest environments and the older ActiveX controls have not been tested in this, we cannot commit on the compatibility. You may face certain issues. As suggested in my last response, kindly upgrade to the latest version of ActiveX Edition. You can also evaluate the product for 30 days before actually purchasing it.
Thanks,
